Learn. Experience. Connect. Serve Leadership Tulsa is a non-partisan leadership development association that uses the community as a classroom, engaging Tulsa area professionals in the key challenges and opportunities of the day. As an organization, we don't take stands on political issues or advocate for specific political candidates. But there are many other ways that we make a direct, positive impact on our community. Hands-on Service Projects - Several times a year, Leadership Tulsa engages its membership in hand-on service projects. In the past, we have worked with United Way's Day of Caring, Habitat for Humanity, and the Red Cross Blood Services and the Tulsa Community Food Bank. We are always open to new service-project ideas, so be sure to contact us if you have an idea.
Benefit Events - There are two major social events during the year where all members are able to get together and have fun with each other. While having a good time together is a goal, we always like to focus on our community whenever we can, as well. For both of the social events, Leadership Tulsa selects a local charity to be the beneficiary of that event and members bring donations to benefit that agency or organization. In the past, we have selected agencies such as the Parent Child Center, Day Center for the Homeless, LIFE Senior Services and the Meals on Wheels. Topical & Political Forums - Because serving our community is so important to us, we feel it's important that our members are aware of what is going on in our community and what the "hot button" issues may be each year. We organize our monthly lunches around those topics and issues. We also provide special "forums" to talk about really important issues such as the river vote, the street package proposals and economic development for our community. We worked with PLANiTULSA and got our members involved in the "official" future plan for our city.
Board Internship Programs - As a part of our Flagship Program, each participant has the opportunity to serve on a local area board. We help them develop the skills to be a good and productive board member so that they can and will continue to serve our community and get involved for years into the future. We have introduced a new board internship program called New Voices that will help to increase ethnic diversity on local area boards. It is a partnership with the Tulsa Area United Way. |
